The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black
The Spiderwick Chronicles is a series consisting of 5 books. The Field Guide – The Seeing Stone – Lucinda’s Secret – The Ironwood Tree – The Wrath of Mugarath
These books are awfully small and are clearly made for children, but anything dealing with fantasy and strange creatures, I’m totally game for. Naturally the book series is a lot better than the movie which I did not care for. There are more events in the books, example: I believe the entire book, The Ironwood Tree, was not even mentioned. It’s not like you really missed much but still. The books are cute and I enjoy all the small details on the outside as well as the inside. The books are a good light read, although they may not be for everyone, I enjoyed them. If you also enjoyed them, check out the extension to the series. Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles, which consists of 3 books. The Nixies Song – A Giant Problem – The Wyrm King. Althought I have only read the first two books of Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles, I still enjoyed them as much as the first series. They did not stray from their writing style and have even incorporated the main characters from the first series. Children’s book or not, you know you liked it.
