Movies TO See: August/September Edition

I apologize for my lateness in doing the August Edition, and as it is too late I am combing August and September.

Premium Rush  (Aug 24/12)

An action rush movie with bikes! Haha.  I wont see this one in theatres, but I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a pretty good actor, so I think it is worth checking out.

7500 (Aug 31/12)

O…m..g… To hell with snakes –  Ghosts on a plane! Lmao.  This is going to be one of those super funny “scary” movies.  Maybe a few jumps would be fun.  This is one of those movies that you go to for a fun night out fully knowing that it is going to be a bad movie.

Lawless  (Aug 29/12)

The true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers.  It is like a western gangster movie.  Not my type of film, but I expect this would be a good movie.

The Cold light of day (Sept 7/12)

Looks like a decent cast – Again, not a huge action fan, but I would be interested in checking out this movie.

Resident Evil 5 (Sept 14/12)

YYeeessss Pllleeaasseee!!!! Finally haha.  I love these movies.  It looks like it will be more action and explosions than anything to do with zombies which is a bit of a let down, but there is a familiar face which needs some explaining!!!!!

Finding Nemo 3D (Sept 14/12)

My first movie TO see to add to the list today, and it is an obvious one.  Finding Nemo is one of the most amazing movies ever.  Even without the 3D aspect the images are spectacular.  I can only imagine what they will look like in 3D.  I am ready to be blown away and enjoy a fantastic movie.  I only hope they have cute limited edition 3D glasses because that would just be the cherry on top.

Arbitrage (Sept 14/12)

Richard Gere is that you!?  Also starring Susan Sarandon.  Gere is a rich man in the middle of a very important business transaction.  He is having an affair, and while driving with this woman, he crashes and kills her.  Not knowing what to do and not wanting to be caught, he sets the car on fire and begins a frantic escape to try and cover it up.  With Gere and Sarandon I would hope that it would not be a total flop, but decent at worst.

Dredd (Sept 21/12)

A futuristic fantasy action film.  The futuristic fantasy element of this movie saved it.  If it didn’t have that, it wouldn’t have anything.  For those reasons I may give this one a shot.

End of Watch (Sept 21/12)

I’m not a huge cops show kind of person.  I have seen it before, but I can take it or leave it.  This movie reminds me of that.  I don’t know if I will ever see this movie, but Jake Gyllenhaal will do an awesome job and I think it will be a pretty good movie.

Won’t Back Down (Sept 28/12)

I don’t think I will watch this movie in theatres, but I did like the message and the story it has.  Schools are usually full of people who don’t care to teach and yet they are the teachers?  I know this isn’t always true, and you can’t blame them.  The system so broken and because of society, rules, and over sensitive people, our children will never be taught anything worth while.  Schools are simply babysitters until children are old enough to be kicked out of the house.

Looper (Sept 28/12)

This looks like a pretty sweet movie and has a really good cast, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  Time travel is invented in the future, but it is illegal and only available to the black market.  What happens when you are hired to do a hit on yourself from 30 years ago?

Solomon Kane (Sept 28/12)

I’m not convinced that this will be an awesome movie, but I am intrigued by the visuals from the preview.  I would consider giving this one a chance, however, it opens on the same day as Looper, and I would suggest Looper over this one.

Frankenweenie (Oct 5/12)

I am over the top excited for this movie.  Tim Burton and Disney collaborations are perfection!  The idea, the look, the story, everything about this movie excites me.  THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE! Can you tell I’m excited?

Argo (Oct 12/12)

Based on a true story, a secret unknown for decades.  In the midst of the 1979 Iranian revolution, the U.S. embassy is stormed taking 52 hostages.  6 of them escape to the Canadian embassy, where if found will be killed.  They make an elaborate and risky plan to help rescue these people.  With a pretty decent cast, I think this will be a pretty good movie!

Paranormal Activity 4 (Oct 19/12)

Again!?  The only reason this movie is on this list is because you cannot watch some movies of a series and not the others.  This…is an obligation.  I am angry with these movies.  Movies based on True Stories are more exciting and much scarier.  But these are a lie! and they lied to us all, and that upset me.

Cloud Atlas (Oct 26/12)

A movie based on a best selling novel.  I have not read the novel, but the preview looks amazing.  It has a very star studded cast and a strange and unique story.  I probably wont see this in theatres for the simple fact that I would really want to read the book first, and I’m not sure if I will read it before then.  I may have to shift my reading schedule!

Skyfall (Nov 9/12)

The new Bond movie with Daniel Craig.  I hope it gets back to being as good as Casino Royale.  I didn’t really care for Quantum of Solace as much.

Twilight Saga: Breaking DawnPart 2 (Nov 16/12)

The preview is just a tease for us.  We all know we will see it and the day cannot come soon enough.

Red Dawn (Nov 21/12)

This looks like a pretty sweet movie actually.  The U.S. is invaded by paratroopers starting off in one american town.  They citizens are under enemy occupation, but there are those that will not allow this to happen to them.  Starring Chris Hemsworth, this action adventure movie looks like it would be well worth the watch.

Les Miserables (Dec 14/12)

I have not seen this play before, and I don’t really know much about it.  It looks like it has a really good cast, and I’m interested to see all these actors and actresses sing!

The Hobbit: Part 1 (Dec 14/12)

Preview finally released.  And now I realize that I have some books to buy and to start reading.  Or at least before December 14th!!

The Great Gatsby (Dec 25/12)

I haven’t read the book yet, but at least I have some time before the movie comes out!

Django Unchained (Dec 25/12)

Quentin Tarantino can usually be counted on.  The film also boasts a good cast, the only thing I didn’t really care for was Jamie Foxx.  There are scenes where he looks a little too modern to fit into this old western.  Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz make up for this though.

Movies Set for 2013!

Scary Movie 5

I can’t believe I am actually putting this movie on this list, but it is true.  I loved these movies, they were so stupid it was funny.  I hope this one follows suit and doesn’t become a complete dud.  Five is a little too many I would agree though.

Monsters Inc 2 !

Austin Powers 4

Catching Fire

The Hobbit: Part 2

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (January 11/13)

There isn’t a preview for this film yet, just a description.  For now I am placing this movie on my TO see list as I enjoy the idea of the film.  It is set 15 years after Hansel and Gretel kill the witch who tries to eat them, and now they are bounty hunters….witch hunters!

I thought I would add a couple projects that are being talked about, and even some have begun casting and filming.

The City of book series by Cassandra Clare is going to be made into a film.  It is hard to express into words how excited I am by this.  While reading the series, I always thought how amazing it would be to see this on the screen, but I assumed it would not happen.  Now that it is, I will definitely be keeping tabs on this one and keeping you updated!

Witch & Wizard is a new book series that I have begun reading.  I learnt that they plan on making it into a movie.  Once I get more info about the film, I will let you know!

The Night Circus is an amazing book by Erin Morgenstern.  The rights to this book were bought almost instantly and I hungrily await for this film!

Fifty shades of Grey has taken the world by storm, and now I demand a steamy movie.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer will also be a film in 2013!
