Movies TO See: October Edition

Looper (Sept 28/12)

This looks like a pretty sweet movie and has a really good cast, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt.  Time travel is invented in the future, but it is illegal and only available to the black market.  What happens when you are hired to do a hit on yourself from 30 years ago?

Solomon Kane (Sept 28/12)

I’m not convinced that this will be an awesome movie, but I am intrigued by the visuals from the preview.  I would consider giving this one a chance, however, it opens on the same day as Looper, and I would suggest Looper over this one.

Frankenweenie (Oct 5/12)

I am over the top excited for this movie.  Tim Burton and Disney collaborations are perfection!  The idea, the look, the story, everything about this movie excites me.  THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE! Can you tell I’m excited?

Pitch Perfect (Oct 5/12)

I’m not a huge fan of the singing movies.  I think there will be some good comedy in this one, mainly because of Rebel Wilson. In the end it will just be an okay movie though.

Butter (Oct 5/12)

A film about Butter sculpting competitions.  Believe it or not I am so into wanting to see the Butter sculptures.  It looks like it would have a decent amount of comedy as well.

Argo (Oct 12/12)

Based on a true story, a secret unknown for decades.  In the midst of the 1979 Iranian revolution, the U.S. embassy is stormed taking 52 hostages.  6 of them escape to the Canadian embassy, where if found will be killed.  They make an elaborate and risky plan to help rescue these people.  With a pretty decent cast, I think this will be a pretty good movie!

Paranormal Activity 4 (Oct 19/12)

Again!?  The only reason this movie is on this list is because you cannot watch some movies of a series and not the others.  This…is an obligation.  I am angry with these movies.  Movies based on True Stories are more exciting and much scarier.  But these are a lie! and they lied to us all, and that upset me.

Cloud Atlas (Oct 26/12)

A movie based on a best selling novel.  I have not read the novel, but the preview looks amazing.  It has a very star studded cast and a strange and unique story.  I probably wont see this in theatres for the simple fact that I would really want to read the book first, and I’m not sure if I will read it before then.  I may have to shift my reading schedule!

Wreck-It Ralph (Nov 2/12)

A Disney film based on famous video game characters.  It actually looks like a cool and fun concept.  The best part is it is able to incorporate multiple platform characters (eg: Nintendo, Sega) and some Xbox/Playstation looking characters.  I didn’t recognize them all though.  With many systems or platforms, they stick with those characters and thats it, you wont really see a character jump platforms.

The Man With the Iron Fists (Nov 2/12)

A Quinten Tarantino film that resembles his Kill Bill films.  There is the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon inspired fighting complete with gore, and cool characters and weapons.  It stars Russell Crowe (whose character I could take or leave), but I’m more interested in Lucy Liu’s character.

Skyfall (Nov 9/12)

The new Bond movie with Daniel Craig.  I hope it gets back to being as good as Casino Royale.  I didn’t really care for Quantum of Solace as much.

Twilight Saga: Breaking DawnPart 2 (Nov 16/12)

The preview is just a tease for us.  We all know we will see it and the day cannot come soon enough.

Anna Karenina (Nov 16/12)

Unfortunately, this film opens the same day as Twilight so it takes away the likelihood of me seeing it in theatres.  I have not read the novel, but after watching the preview I am definitely putting it on my list.  The preview looks completely magical, and the film stars Keira Knightley and Jude Law.  Of course I will wait for this to come out on DVD and complete the classic novel, with the monster mash up, then watch the film.

Red Dawn (Nov 21/12)

This looks like a pretty sweet movie actually.  The U.S. is invaded by paratroopers starting off in one american town.  They citizens are under enemy occupation, but there are those that will not allow this to happen to them.  Starring Chris Hemsworth, this action adventure movie looks like it would be well worth the watch.

Rise of the Guardians (Nov 21/12)

I wasn’t completely sold on this film the first time I saw the preview, but after seeing it a couple times I am willing to give it a shot.  It has an interesting concept as well as it’s portrayal of some of the Guardians.

Silver Linings Playbook (Nov 21/12)

Starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.  This actually looks like a pretty cute movie.  I won’t see it in theatres, but I would be interested to see it after.

The Collection (Nov 30/12)

By the creators of Saw, 50 people have gone missing, of course the rich mans daughter is the reason to start hunting for answers it seems.  There is only one survivor from the killer and he knows his games.  Very cool looking movie with a lot of crazy traps and gross spiders.  Looks like it could be as good as the Saw movies.

Les Miserables (Dec 14/12)

I have not seen this play before, and I don’t really know much about it.  It looks like it has a really good cast, and I’m interested to see all these actors and actresses sing!

The Hobbit: Part 1 (Dec 14/12)

Preview finally released.  And now I realize that I have some books to buy and to start reading.  Or at least before December 14th!!

Life of Pi (Dec 14/12)

I don’t know why but I always thought that this was some sort of self help book.  Probably because I saw it before I started to really get into reading.  After watching the preview I see now this is completely wrong.  The movie looks absolutely magical.  I probably wont see it in theatres, but I will definitely be checking out the book and the film after.

The Impossible (Dec 21/12)

A film based on the true story of a family on vacation who are separated by the Tsunami, and their journey reuniting.  I don’t think I will make it to the theatre, but I would consider watching it after.

The Great Gatsby (Dec 25/12)

I haven’t read the book yet, but at least I have some time before the movie comes out!

Django Unchained (Dec 25/12)

Quentin Tarantino can usually be counted on.  The film also boasts a good cast, the only thing I didn’t really care for was Jamie Foxx.  There are scenes where he looks a little too modern to fit into this old western.  Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz make up for this though.

Movies Set for 2013!

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (January 11/13)

The preview for this movie is finally out.  I love the darkness of the film and their portrayal of some of the witches looks pretty cool.  Unfortunately, from the preview you can tell they try to add comedy to the film when they shouldn’t.  I’m hoping this doesn’t ruin the film, as I am leaving it on the films TO see for concept and hope.

Beautiful Creatures (Feb 1/13)

I have been wanting to check out this series for awhile now, it looks like I am going to have to get on that.  I’m sure whether or not I like the books will have an effect on my desire to see the film.  I have a feeling I will enjoy them.

Identity Thief (Feb 8/13)

Starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, McCarthy’s character steals Bateman’s identity.  This actually looks pretty funny.  It wouldn’t be high on my list to rush to the theatres, but I would like to see this one.

Warm Bodies (Feb 13/13)

The concept of this movie makes me laugh.  There is no preview for it yet so I cannot judge it completely.  It is about a zombie who becomes friends with the girlfriend of one of his victims.  Not many people go the zombie route as they are usually portrayed as speechless drones and can only go the killing route.

Stoker (March 1/13)

A strange movie that I probably wouldn’t usually watch, but it stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska.  It’s not something I would see in theatres though.

Oz: The Great and Powerful (March 8/13)

A Disney film about the Wizard of Oz starring James Franco as the wizard!? I’m definitely interested in seeing this!

Carrie (March 15/13)

A remake of the classic.  To be honest I have never seen the original Carrie movie.  I know the gist of it though.  This gives me times to watch the original and debate if its worth seeing the remake.

Scary Movie 5

I can’t believe I am actually putting this movie on this list, but it is true.  I loved these movies, they were so stupid it was funny.  I hope this one follows suit and doesn’t become a complete dud.  Five is a little too many I would agree though.

Monsters Inc. 2 : Monsters University (Summer 2013)

I was tricked by this movie a bit.  I thought that they had bumped the movie up, but it turns out they are just bringing the 1st film to theatres in 3D Dec 19/12.  Because of this however, I did find a preview for the actual Monsters Inc 2.  It is called Monsters University, where monsters go to learn to scare.  This is a prequel to the original and before Mike and Sully are best buds.  I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into one of those kids movies where it tries to be funny but isn’t.  That would hurt all too much.

Austin Powers 4

Star Trek Into Darkness

I guess I will have to get on watching the first one.  However, if I’m not impressed by it then this one will probably come off the list.  I heard it was a pretty popular movie though so I’m sure many of you will be interested in this one.

The Fast & Furious 6

We have come this far, we can’t stop now!

Man of Steel

A new interpretation of Super Man’s back story.  I’m usually not on jumping at these movies and take my time to see them, but I know many of you are eager for them.

The Wolverine

I actually really enjoyed all the X-men movies. I haven’t really watched the Wolverine (or Wolverine’s) so I should probably do that first.

RoboCop

To be honest I don’t really remember too much about this movie.  Just Arnold and silver armour.  I know many of you would be interested in this one, even though remakes kind of ruin things sometimes.

Catching Fire

The Hobbit: Part 2

A COUPLE PROJECTS SOON TO

COME THAT I AM VERY EXCITED FOR!

I thought I would add a couple projects that are being talked about, and even some have begun casting and filming.

The City of book series by Cassandra Clare is going to be made into a film.  It is hard to express into words how excited I am by this.  While reading the series, I always thought how amazing it would be to see this on the screen, but I assumed it would not happen.  Now that it is, I will definitely be keeping tabs on this one and keeping you updated!

Witch & Wizard is a new book series that I have begun reading.  I learnt that they plan on making it into a movie.  Once I get more info about the film, I will let you know!

The Night Circus is an amazing book by Erin Morgenstern.  The rights to this book were bought almost instantly and I hungrily await for this film!

Fifty shades of Grey has taken the world by storm, and now I demand a steamy movie.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer will also be a film in 2013!
