Movies TO See: November 2014 Edition

It has been quite awhile since I posted one of these as I was focusing on other projects.  I decided it was time to do this again, as we actually had to sit and try to decide what movie to go to, then ended up NOT GOING!  Unheard of.  Which of course is due to the UNDERwhelming amount of must see movies right now.  So let us begin.

The Book of Life (Oct 17/14)

In time for Halloween, an animated film for the whole family with a day of the dead theme.  The adults will love it, and the kids will laugh without really knowing the meaning behind all the adult humour.

Nightcrawler (October 31/14)

Not something I would jump to see but I think this would interest a few of you.  Jake Gyllenhaal is struggling to find a job when he happens upon an accident.  He meets a news camera guy, and decides to start his own business.  Starting off with a small handheld camera he begins filming accident and crimes scenes.  His business escalates but also puts him into the position of being witness to murder and even accomplice.

Before I Go To Sleep (Oct 31/14)

A psychological thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth.  I enjoy both as actors/actresses and even better, the film is based on a best selling novel.  Kidman wakes up every day and has no memory after a horrific accident.  She tries to piece together what happened, but it becomes clear someone does not want her to know.

Horns (October 31/14)

Our little Danny Radcliffe is all grown up and looking for serious work.  Although he has been in the odd movie here and there, this may be his first worth while watch since the Harry Potter series.

Private Peaceful (Oct 31/14)

I’m not a huge fan of war films, and I highly doubt I will see this, but I could see it being a pretty decent film.

Interstellar (November 7/14)

Space movies seem like something from the past.  They were everywhere growing up then they disappeared for awhile.  Now they seem to be coming back.  The cast; however, may be the saving grace to make everyone want to see it.  Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, Michael Caine and Mackenzie Foy.  It is hard to beat Armageddon though.

Big Hero 6 (Nov 7/14)

I love me my Disney!  This looks like something different that will be cute and funny. The title throws me off though as it is too odd and doesn’t sound as catchy or memorable as it’s other titles.

Jessabelle (November 7/14)

I am not a huge fan of scary movies.  Mainly because I scare too easily and because they can be horribly stupid and a waste of time and money to see in theatres.  Jamie often likes to watch them on Netflix while I avert my eyes, but I could see us both watching this one.  I would not rush to see it in theatres but could be an interesting watch.

The Theory of Everything (Nov 7/14)

The story of Stephen Hawking.  Many know who he is, but not his story.  Whether this is completely dramatized or not it looks pretty magical!

Merry Friggin’ Christmas (Nov 7/14)

Christmas has come early in this catastrophic Christmas comedy starring Robbin Williams, Lauren Graham, Joel McHale and Candice Bergen.  It looks like an attempt at a modern National Lampoon’s but could have some decent laughs.

Mr.Pip (Nov 7/14)

I have never read Great Expectation’s but this looks like a wonderful mix between imagination and the horrors of reality.

Beyond the Lights (Nov 14/14)

The story of a young girl, pressured into fame and fortune by her mother and struggling to find her own voice.  The romantic in me says, yes please, but I can’t see myself seeing this in theatres.

Dumb and Dumber To (Nov 14/14)

Can anyone really say that after seeing the first one a thousand times they aren’t even the tiniest bit interested in seeing this!?

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (Nov 21/14)

Yay! Need I say more.

The Imitation Game (Nov 21/14)

I would not see this movie in theatres, but I would be interested in seeing it.  Based on the true story of the Inigma code and code-breaking during WWII.

Horrible Bosses 2 (Nov 26/14)

I’m not usually a fan of these movies, but I think this may actually be better than the first.

The Babadook (Nov 28/14)

How delightful! Oh you brits sure know how to make a fun bogeyman.  Definitely not for theatres, but I look forward to seeing this on Netflix.

The Pyramid (Dec 5/14)

I look forward to this one being on Netflix as well!  I love Pyramid’s and this looks like one of those delightfully cheesy horror movies to pass the time.

The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (Dec 17/14)

I think I have lost track of how many films they are turning the Hobbit into by now….oy vey.

Into the Woods (Dec 25/14)

A live action film adapted into a musical starring Meryl Streep, Johny Depp and Emily Blunt by Disney. What an amazing combination.

2015

Taken 3 (Jan 9/15)

These look like interesting action films, but I haven’t seen the first two.  Perhaps I need to get on that!

The Wedding Ringer (Jan 16/15)

I can’t believe I am even putting this here.  I can see some “I can’t believe this is happening” laughs, but I would definitely not see this in theatres.

Mortdecai (Jan 23/15)

I have no idea what I just saw but Johnny Depp can be so on spot and funny.

The Boy Next Door (Jan 23/15)

I can’t help it, I love Jennifer Lopez as an actress.  Ryan Guzman plays an obsessive young man who takes things to the crazy level.  I dunno if I’d make it to the theatres for this one but I would watch it.

Black Sea (Jan 23/15)

I would not watch this in theatres but I think its worth a watch.  Starring Jude Law, a nazi submarine with over 500 million in gold bars sits at the bottom of the ocean.  A group of men is assembled to retrieve it, but greed takes over in the bottom of the ocean.

The Seventh Son (Feb 6/15)

This film just keeps getting pushed back.  They will need to re-film it by the time they decide to release it because technology has changed so much.  My opinion of the movie gets lower and lower, but I still have a slight interest of seeing it.  I don’t think it will be that great though.

Jupiter Ascending (Feb 6/15)

A Sci-fi fantasy movie starring Chatting Tatum and Mila Kunis.  Looking pretty cool!

Kingsman: The Secret Service (Feb 13/15)

Loves me some Colin Firth.  This would be the first action movie I have seen him in, but I am loving this.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Feb 14/15)

I don’t imagine I will crowd into the theatre with all the other horny women (and men) for valentine’s day but I am still interested in seeing it!

Fast & Furious 7 (April 3/15)

You can’t stop now.

Age of Adaline (April 24/15)

I haven’t seen the trailer, which will be the deciding factor, but the synopsis sounds interesting.  Starring Blake Lively, an accident causes Adaline to stop aging and she lives out the 20th century alone, until she finds the love and courage to live again.

Tomorrowland (May 22/15)

A Disney movie starring George Clooney, but they have been very secretive about this film.  The trailer is finally out and looks interesting, but still mysterious.

The Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015)

I still have not seen the other movies, but it looks like I have time to get on that!

Jurrasic World

Minions

Thats right…. Minions, the same loveable guys from the Despicable me films.

Peanuts

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Resident Evil 6

2016

Avatar 2

Finding Dory

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

2017

Pirates of the Caribbean 5

A COUPLE PROJECTS SOON TO

COME THAT I AM VERY EXCITED FOR!

I thought I would add a couple projects that are being talked about, and even some have begun casting and filming.

Witch & Wizard is a new book series that I have  read.  I learnt that they plan on making it into a movie.  Once I get more info about the film, I will let you know!

The Night Circus is an amazing book by Erin Morgenstern.  The rights to this book were bought almost instantly and I hungrily await for this film!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
An awesome book trilogy and I can’t wait for the films.

Hoping for a Shatter Me film!

Wishing for a Selection film but not holding my breath.

Movies TO See: May 2014 Edition

Bad Country (April 29/14)

This isn’t my type of film but I have a feeling it would be a pretty decent watch.

Belle (May 2/14)

Based on a true story, the tale of Dido Elizabeth Belle, a mixed race daughter of an Admiral in an aristocratic family.

Neighbors (May 9/14)

Zac Efron and Dave Franco… I’m not ashamed that my reasoning to see this movie doesn’t extend past those two names.

Devil’s Knot (May 9/14)

Based on true events, it does give you the chills watching the preview.  I don’t see myself watching this movie, but it does look like it will be worth a watch.

Wolf Creek 2 (May 16/14)

The first one was pretty gruesome and creepy.  I can’t believe they made a second one and have the same killer as the first film.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23/14)

The old cast is back along with some new characters! A mix between old and revamped X-Men.  So looking forward to this.

Maleficent (May 30/14)

Sleeping Beauty but from the point of view of Maleficent played by Angelina Jolie!! I love that Disney is making live action versions of some of their classics.

The Fault In Our Stars (June 6/14)

Based on the best selling novel of the same name by John Green.  Usually I try to avoid these types of movies incase I end up balling in the theatre, but I would like to check out this movie and possibly read the book.  I’m not sure of which order those may happen in though.

22 Jump Street (June 13/14)

We all love a little Channing in our lives.

Transformers: Age of Extinction  (June 27/14)

I really enjoyed the first Transformers film but I seem to have missed or not watched the 7 others that seemed to have popped up.

Tammy (July 2/14)

Starring Melissa McCarthy I think you guys will like this one.  I find Melissa McCarthy to be the new Will Farrell…except I can at least stand Melissa.  But she seems to be type casted and needs to stay in certain roles.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (July 11/14)

I had never seen any of the original films.  I was pleasantly surprised with the last remake, I would definitely check this one out.

Jupiter Ascending (July 25/14)

This sounds like such a magical anime type story and it stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis!

Step Up All In (July 25/14)

I have never watched one of these dance films, but if I were it would probably be this one.  It is in Vegas and there are lots of different costumes and themes that make it look pretty cool.  The storyline and the words are usually pretty lame in these though. (examples: watch the preview)

Guardians of the Galaxy (Aug 1/14)

A strange mix of action, sci-fi and comedy?  I guess it is based on a comic book series and brought to us by Marvel Studios.  It is strange enough that it just might work.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Aug 8/14)

I am undecided about this.  Everyone will want to see it for the nostalgia but theres a strong possibility it will fail and just be an upset.

Lucy (Aug 8/14)

This can’t be the real name of this film? Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, Johansson gets a bag of drugs implanted in her to smuggle.  When the bag is broken and begins to seep into her body it enhances her brain function over time and gives her some pretty intense powers.  Looks pretty cool.

Expendables 3 (Aug 15/14)

The fact that there is a third one of these makes me wonder if I am missing something.  The third film appears to star a dozen or so famous action stars.  I may have to consider watching these.

If I Stay (Aug 22/14)

Chloe Grace Moretz is growing up to be a young, very pretty and pretty great actress.  The preview gives me chills and I would love to see this movie.

One Chance (Aug 29/14)

I don’t think I would see this but it may interest some of you.  It is based on the true events of a shy man named Paul Potts who loved opera and took a chance auditioning on Britain’s Got Talent and wowed millions.

The Boxtrolls (Sept 26/14)

A cute new animated film about creatures called Boxtrolls.  The film is a 3D stop motion film and looks pretty amazing.

The Book of Life (Oct 17/14)

An animated film that sounds pretty fantastical.  There is no movie trailer out just yet, but it sounds pretty cool.  It looks like Channing Tatum will be doing a voice over as well.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (Nov 21/14)

Yay! Need I say more.

The Hobbit: There and Back again (Dec 17/14)

I think I have lost track of how many films they are turning the Hobbit into by now….oy vey.

Tomorrowland (Dec 19/14)

A Disney movie starring George Clooney, but they have been very secretive about this film.

Into the Woods (Dec 25/14)

A live action film adapted into a musical starring Meryl Streep, Johny Depp and Emily Blunt by Disney. What an amazing combination.

2015

Fifty Shades of Grey (Feb 14/15)

The Seventh Son

This film just keeps getting pushed back.  They will need to re-film it by the time they decide to release it because technology has changed so much.

Jurrasic World

Peanuts

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Fast & Furious 7

Resident Evil 6

2016

Avatar 2

Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Finding Dory (2016)

Thats right! Finding Nemo Part 2! This time it is Finding Dory.  Newly announced, but thankfully Ellen will be voicing Dory in the new film.  Oh Boy thats a long time away.
