Movies TO See: June 2013 Edition

After Earth (June 7/13)

A futuristic movie starring Will Smith and his son Jaden.  Looks like a pretty cool movie, I’d check it out…after theatres probably.

Now You See Me (June 7/13)

Magician robbers with a decent cast, i’m in.

The Internship (June 7/13)

Ugh.  I dont want to put this here.  I think I would like everything except the main characters.  Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson aren’t doing it for me.  They are perfect for their roles as washed up old guys though.  Interesting that there is a Google themed move and an Apple themed movie, all we need is Microsofts story now. I’m not gonna see this in theatres, but probably after.

The Purge (June 7/13)

Interesting concept.  Crime is down, unemployment is at 1%, America is doing good.  For one night (12 hours) of the year EVERYTHING is legal, including murder.  Plus there are killers in creepy masks.

This Is The End (June 12/13)

I’m throwing you off here.  This isn’t normally my type of movie, and I know it isn’t going to be great, but there are so many famous people in this movie I am intrigued.

Man of Steel (June 14/13)

A new interpretation of Super Man’s back story.  I’m usually not on jumping at these movies and take my time to see them, but I know many of you are eager for them.

The Bling Ring (June 14/13)

Based on the true events of the group who stole over 3 million in stuff from celebs like Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Rachel Bilson.  I wouldn’t see this in theatres, but I would consider it after.

Vehicle 19 (June 14/13)

So this isn’t something I would go to theatres just to watch, but I will admit that I would consider watching this some time….when Im not sure.

World War Z (June 21/13)

I am so torn by this movie.  I love zombie type movies and with Brad Pitt in the movie you know they put lots of money behind it to have an A lister up front.  What I am not convinced on are these reanimated corpses that are more like the robots from I, Robot when they go bad.  Super human strength, no pain just full on attack mode.

Monsters Inc. 2 : Monsters University (June 21/13)

I was tricked by this movie a bit.  I thought that they had bumped the movie up, but it turns out they are just bringing the 1st film to theatres in 3D Dec 19/12.  Because of this however, I did find a preview for the actual Monsters Inc 2.  It is called Monsters University, where monsters go to learn to scare.  This is a prequel to the original and before Mike and Sully are best buds.  I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into one of those kids movies where it tries to be funny but isn’t.  That would hurt all too much.

Unfinished Song (Song for Marion) (June 21/13)

A cute british movie.  The plot seems pretty predictable but still good.

A Hijacking (June 21/13)

I wasn’t sure about this film based on the plot, but the preview makes me think this may be a pretty good intense watch.

Byzantium (June 28/13)

Love me some vampire movies.  There are a couple of graphics on the preview that are interesting.  I always like to see how people portray vampires.

White House Down (June 28/13)

Looks like a pretty cool movie.  Did I mention Channing Tatum is in it? : )

Despicable Me 2 (July 3/13)

Seeing this preview makes me think, Why the heck haven’t I seen the first one!?  It looks pretty cute.  I am definitely going to check out the first one and most likely see this one as well.

The Lone Ranger (July 3/13)

A Disney movie with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.  I’m not big on cowboys and indians but what the heck!

Blackfish (July 12/13)

The sad and true documentary of Killer Whales in captivity and the true story of Tilikum, the Seaworld whale who has killed three people.

Turbo (July 17/13)

I dunno if I would make it to theatres to see this, but I love snails and it looks like a cute movie.

R.I.P.D (July 19/13)

Not completely sold on the idea, but I am sold on Ryan Reynolds.  Is it just me or is this exactly like Men in Black?  Won’t see it in theatres, but I’d watch it when its out.

Only God Forgives (July 19/13)

This movie has a strange preview, but it features the steamy Ryan Gosling which makes me consider it.

The Wolverine (July 26/13)

I actually really enjoyed all the X-men movies. I haven’t really watched the Wolverine (or Wolverine’s) so I should probably do that first.

Elysium (August 9/13)

The earth has gone to crap, and the rich are living on a luxury space ship.  I may consider seeing this movie, but we’ll see if its in theatres or not.

Planes (August 9/13)

From the makers of Cars we have Planes!

We’re the Millers (Aug 9/13)

I don’t think this is going to be an amazing movie, but I love Jennifer Aniston and I think it would be a fun watch!

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters (August 16/13)

I actually didn’t mind the first Percy Jackson movie, I wouldn’t mind checking this one out.

City of Bones (August 23/13)

The first book in the Immortal Instruments series.  I loved these books and I can’t wait for the movies.

Getaway (August 30/13)

I want to see an actual preview for this movie before I completely decide.  Could be good, could be bad.  It kind of reminds me of the movie Cellular.

I, Frankenstein (Sept 13/13)

Sounds interesting, I wouldn’t mind a preview to solidify my interest though.

The Prisoners (Sept 20/13)

Starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.  Two daughters are kidnapped and after the police fail to find them, the father takes things into his own hands.  Looks pretty good.

Malavita (The Family) (Sept 20/13)

Starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer in a mofia comedy, I’ll take the bait.

Gravity (October 4/13)

I’m gonna give this a shot .  The cast looks good.  The idea of two people being lost in space makes me wonder how much story will be there.

Captain Phillips (Oct 11/13)

Based on the true story of Somalian pirates hijacking a cargo ship.  Its interesting that there is a movie about the captain and the ship, as well as a different film with the same subject in the same year.

Oldboy (October 11/13)

A man kidnapped and held captive for 20 years then released only to begin a hunt to find his captor and his motives.  I’d have to see a preview for this one to make a for sure decision.

The Seventh Son (October 18/13)

A supernatural movie with Julianne Moore as a dark witch.  I may be interested in this!

About Time (Nov 1/13)

A romantic comedy featuring Rachel McAdams, Yes please!

Ender’s Game (Nov 1/13)

I never read the books, but it does sound very familiar.  After seeing the preview I am slightly intrigued, but I think I may consider reading the book and maybe watch the movie after.

Thor: The Dark World (Nov 8/13)

I haven’t seen the first one, but lately I have been wanting to give some of these new Marvel movies a chance.  Of course I would have to watch the first Thor before I attempt this one.

Catching Fire (Nov 22/13)

The sequel to the Hunger Games.  I look forward to how this one turns out.

Frozen (November 27/13)

An animated film with a winter wonderland full of magic.  I doubt I would see this in theatres, but could be a good movie to watch on Netflix.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (December 13/13)

The Hobbit…Part 2 of 3…

The Monuments Men (December 18/13)

Starring George Clooney and Daniel Craig.  The film is based on a true story about art historians and museum currators during WWII.  Who doesn’t love a good treasure hunt?

Saving Mr. Banks (December 20/13)

A story about Walt Disney!  His daughters beg for their favourite story to become a film (Mary Poppins) and Walt’s struggle to make it happen.  Would LOVE to see this!

2014

300: Rise of an Empire (2014)

If it’s anything like the first 300 I’m down ; )

RoboCop

To be honest I don’t really remember too much about this movie.  Just Arnold and silver armour.  I know many of you would be interested in this one, even though remakes kind of ruin things sometimes.

Maleficent (July 2/14)

Sleeping Beauty from the side of Maleficent played by Angelina Jolie!!

Jupiter Ascending (July 25/14)

This sounds like such a magical anime type story and it stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis!

 Avatar 2

Mockingjay Part 1 (Nov 21/14)

The first part of the end of Hunger Games

2015

Finding Dory (Nov 25/15)

Thats right! Finding Nemo Part 2! This time it is Finding Dory.  Newly announced, but thankfully Ellen will be voicing Dory in the new film.  Oh Boy thats a long time away.

Mockingjay Part 2

The finale to the Hunger Games

Pirates of the Caribbean 5

A COUPLE PROJECTS SOON TO

COME THAT I AM VERY EXCITED FOR!

I thought I would add a couple projects that are being talked about, and even some have begun casting and filming.

Witch & Wizard is a new book series that I have begun reading.  I learnt that they plan on making it into a movie.  Once I get more info about the film, I will let you know!

The Night Circus is an amazing book by Erin Morgenstern.  The rights to this book were bought almost instantly and I hungrily await for this film!

Fifty shades of Grey has taken the world by storm, and now I demand a steamy movie.

Movies TO See: May 2013 Edition

The Iceman (May 3/13)

I wouldn’t see this movie because it’s not really my thing but the idea is pretty interesting.  It is based on the true story about Richard Kuklinksi, a contract killer for the mob who killed over 100 men.

The Great Gatsby (May 10/13)

This movie was supposed to be released in December, but for some reason the release was moved.  I have not read the book but I am interested in seeing this movie.

Epic (May 12/13)

I love imaginative cartoon movies with beautiful scenery.  A fun good vs evil movie.  There may be a couple lame laughs, but looks like fun.

Star Trek Into Darkness (May 15/13)

I guess I will have to get on watching the first one.  However, if I’m not impressed by it then this one will probably come off the list.  I heard it was a pretty popular movie though so I’m sure many of you will be interested in this one.

The Fast & Furious 6 (May 24/13)

We have come this far, we can’t stop now!  They have definitely come a long way since the first Fast and Furious. They amped up the action and effects in this film.

The Hangover III (May 24/13)

This ones for you.  Watching the preview for this movie made me realize I don’t even know if I saw the second one, or cared about the first one.  Where’s the other guy?  Shows how much I know.

We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks (May 24/13)

I had to get Jamie to educate me on this topic.  It sounds like a pretty interesting documentary.  Nothing I would watch in a theatre though.

After Earth (June 7/13)

A futuristic movie starring Will Smith and his son Jaden.  Looks like a pretty cool movie, I’d check it out…after theatres probably.

Now You See Me (June 7/13)

Magician robbers with a decent cast, i’m in.

Malavita (Sept 20/13)

Starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer in a mofia comedy, I’ll take the bait.

Gravity (October 4/13)

I’m gonna give this a shot and wait until the preview.  The preview would have to make this look exciting in order to see it.  The cast looks good, I’m intrigued to see Sandra Bullock in a more “serious” role.  The idea of two people being lost in space makes me wonder how much story will be there.

Movies TO See: April 2013 Edition

The Host (March 29/13)

Based on the best selling novel by Stephanie Meyer.  I really liked this book and I look forward to this movie.  I didn’t realize it was so close.  You would think they would have more advertising done by now.  I think if I would not have read the book and I saw the preview I wouldn’t know if I wanted to see this or not.  There is so much to explain as a back story that the preview was….lame.  I hope the movie doesn’t disappoint.

G.I. Joe Retaliation (March 29/13)

I suppose I will have to see the first movie.  I am still annoyed that they moved this movie release date a year all to make it 3D, then list it as not 3D.  But a movie with Channing Tatum is a good enough reason to see it…right?

Tyler Perry’s Temptation (March 29/13)

I can’t help but wonder the reaction if someone tried to make a movie with an all white cast?  Just sayin.  Tyler Perry usually has some attempts at comedy, but this one is basically his version of Fifty Shades of Grey.  Because of this I may actually be interested in watching this movie.  He is basically stealing all the women who are waiting for the Fifty Shades Movies.  The book has been out for how long now?  Come on people get with the program and on the fad train or else you will lose us.

Great Expectations (March 30/13)
Based on the Charles Dickens novel.  I have never read the novel, but I think I would be interested in seeing the movie.  Unfortunately, just not in theatres.

6 Souls or Shelter (April 5/13)

A suspense horror starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.  I get scared easily so I probably won’t see it, but it looks good!!

Disconnect (April 12/13)

I wasn’t sure about this movie at first.  I doubt I will rush to the theatres for this one, but it looks like it would have some pretty interesting stories.  I would definitely check it out later.

Into The White (April 12/13)

I’m not usually into war movies, I was on the fence about this one, but decided to give it a chance.  I’m more so interested to see how Rupert Grint does outside of the Harry Potter films.

Oblivion (April 19/13)

I’m normally not into these types of movies but I’m actually interested in seeing this one.  I doubt I will see it in theatres though, I will wait for this one.

The Big Wedding (April 26/13)

A great cast for a comedy.  I wasn’t completely sold on the preview though.  I would give this one a shot, just not in theatres.

The Iceman (May 3/13)

I wouldn’t see this movie because it’s not really my thing but the idea is pretty interesting.  It is based on the true story about Richard Kuklinksi, a contract killer for the mob who killed over 100 men.

I’m not sure exactly why they had to move this movie a year and a half away from part 1.  It’s bad enough they turned it into 3 parts.

 Avatar 2

Movies TO See: February 2013 Edition

Warm Bodies (Feb 1/13)

The concept of this movie makes me laugh.  There is no preview for it yet so I cannot judge it completely.  It is about a zombie who becomes friends with the girlfriend of one of his victims.  Not many people go the zombie route as they are usually portrayed as speechless drones and can only go the killing route.

Identity Theft (Feb 8/13)

Starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, McCarthy’s character steals Bateman’s identity.  This actually looks pretty funny.  It wouldn’t be high on my list to rush to the theatres, but I would like to see this one.

Side Effects (Feb 8/13)

An intriguing preview with a great cast.  I would definitely consider seeing this!

Beautiful Creatures or Beautiful Diaries (Feb 14/13)

I have been wanting to check out this series for awhile now, it looks like I am going to have to get on that.  I’m sure whether or not I like the books will have an effect on my desire to see the film.  I have a feeling I will enjoy them.

Safe Haven (Feb 14/13)

From the Author of the Notebook and Dear John.  Looks like a good movie, and Josh Duhamel isn’t hard on the eyes.

Escape from Planet Earth (Feb 14/13)

Looks like a pretty cute movie.

Hansel & Gretel Get Baked (Feb 19/13)

This actually looks like it would be a fun movie.  I’m not big on the whole stoner thing but it is a funny concept based on the old tale.

Snitch (Feb 22/13)

I think if I were to be watching any action movies, I would consider this one.

Stoker (March 1/13)

A strange movie that I probably wouldn’t usually watch, but it stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska.  It’s not something I would see in theatres though.

Oz: The Great and Powerful (March 8/13)

A Disney film about the Wizard of Oz starring James Franco as the wizard!? I’m

definitely interested in seeing this!

Admission (March 8/13)

I first reaction to seeing Tina Fey and Paul Rudd as the cast is not very positive.  They have joined the ranks of those actors and actresses who are only in one type of movie.  However….I dont think this is that type of movie.  I would watch this movie, but I would wait until it was out of theatres.

Emperor (March 8/13)

I’m not a huge war movie guy, but I imagine this one would be an interesting one to watch….when its out of theatres.

Upside Down (March 15/13)

Interesting idea for a movie, I would really be interested in seeing this.  I may be biased though as it reminds me of an idea for a story I had.

The Call (March 15/13)

This looks like such a good movie, I would definitely want to see this in theatres even. Stars Halle Barry and Abigail Breslin.  Berry is a 911 operator and Breslin gets kidnapped by a serial killer.

Carrie (March 15/13)

A remake of the classic.  To be honest I have never seen the original Carrie movie.  I know the gist of it though.  This gives me times to watch the original and debate if its worth seeing the remake.

Olympus Has Fallen (March 22/13)

Looks like a pretty good action movie about the take over of the white house and taking the president hostage.

Byzantium (Unknown At this Time)

Not sure for the release date on this one yet, but love me some vampire movies.  There are a couple of graphics on the preview that are interesting.  I always like to see how people portray vampires.

Oblivion (April 19/13)

I’m normally not into these types of movies but I’m actually interested in seeing this one.  I doubt I will see it in theatres though, I will wait for this one.

The Great Gatsby (May 10/13)

This movie was supposed to be released in December, but for some reason the release was moved.  I have not read the book but I am interested in seeing this movie.

Star Trek Into Darkness (May 17/13)

I guess I will have to get on watching the first one.  However, if I’m not impressed by it then this one will probably come off the list.  I heard it was a pretty popular movie though so I’m sure many of you will be interested in this one.

The Fast & Furious 6 (May 24/13)

We have come this far, we can’t stop now!

Epic (May 24/13)

I love imaginative cartoon movies with beautiful scenery.  A fun good vs evil movie.  There may be a couple lame laughs, but looks like fun.

After Earth (June 7/13)

A futuristic movie starring Will Smith and his son Jaden.  Looks like a pretty cool movie, I’d check it out…after theatres probably.

Now You See Me (June 7/13)

Magician robbers with a decent cast, i’m in.

Man of Steel (June 14/13)

A new interpretation of Super Man’s back story.  I’m usually not on jumping at these movies and take my time to see them, but I know many of you are eager for them.

The Lone Ranger (July 3/13)

A Disney movie with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.  I’m not big on cowboys and indians but what the heck!

Turbo (July 19/13)

I dunno if I would make it to theatres to see this, but I love snails and it looks like a cute movie.

The Wolverine July 26/13)

I actually really enjoyed all the X-men movies. I haven’t really watched the Wolverine (or Wolverine’s) so I should probably do that first.

Elysium (August 9/13)

The earth has gone to crap, and the rich are living on a luxury space ship.  I may consider seeing this movie, but we’ll see if its in theatres or not.

City of Bones (August 23/13)

The first book in the Immortal Instruments series.  I loved these books and I can’t wait for the movies.

Catching Fire (Nov 22/13)

The sequel to the Hunger Games.  I look forward to how this one turns out.

2014

RoboCop

To be honest I don’t really remember too much about this movie.  Just Arnold and silver armour.  I know many of you would be interested in this one, even though remakes kind of ruin things sometimes.

The Hobbit: Part 2 (July 14/14)

I’m not sure exactly why they had to move this movie a year and a half away from part 1.  It’s bad enough they turned it into 3 parts.

 Avatar 2

The Host by Stephanie Meyer will also be a film in 2013!

Movies TO See: January 2013 Edition

Apparently I did not do a December Edition for last year, sorry.  Im pretty sure I did though so that just makes me annoyed that there is nothing there.

Gangster Squad (Jan 11/13)

I probably wont watch this until its out on DVD, but it looks like it would be a good movie.  It has a great cast.  Sean Penn looks like a great gangster.  I enjoy Emma Stone, and Ryan Gosling is a win no matter what you have to watch.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (January 25/13)

The preview for this movie is finally out.  I love the darkness of the film and their portrayal of some of the witches looks pretty cool.  Unfortunately, from the preview you can tell they try to add comedy to the film when they shouldn’t.  I’m hoping this doesn’t ruin the film, as I am leaving it on the films TO see for concept and hope.

Beautiful Creatures (Feb 1/13)

I have been wanting to check out this series for awhile now, it looks like I am going to have to get on that.  I’m sure whether or not I like the books will have an effect on my desire to see the film.  I have a feeling I will enjoy them.

Identity Thief (Feb 8/13)

Starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, McCarthy’s character steals Bateman’s identity.  This actually looks pretty funny.  It wouldn’t be high on my list to rush to the theatres, but I would like to see this one.

Side Effects (Feb 8/13)

An intriguing preview with a great cast.  I would definitely consider seeing this!

Safe Haven (Feb 14/13)

From the Author of the Notebook and Dear John.  Looks like a good movie, and Josh Duhamel isn’t hard on the eyes.

Escape from Planet Earth (Feb 14/13)

Looks like a pretty cute movie.
